Electrical Power System

EPS Overview

The Electrical Power System (EPS) manages power generation, storage, and distribution across the satellite. It includes the battery assembly, solar cell and panel configurations, and monitoring systems for both power consumption and generation. The EPS also defines and maintains the overall power budget, ensuring all subsystems operate within available energy constraints. A dedicated kill switch is incorporated to meet safety requirements and enable controlled power isolation when necessary.

Solar Cells

Solar cells are mounted on the ±X, ±Y, and ±Z panels to maximize exposure. Larger cells are arranged in a 3-series, 7-parallel (3S7P) configuration, while smaller cells use a 3-series, 14-parallel (3S14P) configuration to optimize power generation within the available surface area.

Testing

A range of tests were performed to meet safety review requirements, including deployment switch force testing, DC-DC converter overcharge testing, and functional testing under a sun simulator. These tests, along with others, ensure the system operates safely and reliably under expected conditions.
