Attitude Determination and Control System

ADCS Overview

The ADCS provides orientation estimation and control for the CubeSat platform. Consisting of in-house and commerical actuators and sensors the system serves as a core part of the bus and mission payload.

The architecture is tightly integrated with other subsystems, such as the Electrical Power System (EPS) and mission payloads, enabling coordinated and efficient satellite operations.

Actuators

It integrates multiple actuators, including three ASPINA reaction wheels, a commercial magnetorquer (ISIS IMTQ), and a custom-built magnetorquer (qMTQ).

Sensors

The system utilizes a suite of sensors; gyroscopes, magnetometers, a GNSS receiver, sun sensors, and an Earth sensor, to determine the satellite’s attitude in orbit. Based on this data, the ADCS supports multiple operational modes, including detumbling, nadir pointing, sun pointing, and fine pointing.
